 bespoke (definition)

1: custom-made
ex: a bespoke sound system
2: specially made for a particular person:
ex: a bespoke suit
Synonyms
custom-made, tailored

So this assignment is to create a tentative proposal for a bespoke object, and I came up with a couple ideas while I've been sick over the past week.

1) Sentiment Cube

My first idea is for an interlocking system of 3D-printed components, each custom made to safely contain and display an object of sentimental value, be it a feather, photograph, small toy, lock of hair, neat rock - things of small dollar value but large sentimental value, and each item could be connected to the other items in a mass, each safely holding an object custom printed to contain.

A 3d scan or calibers to model enough of the object to be able to print a 3d enclosure to keep the object safe while also displaying it, while also having a universal attachment point to connect to other modules.

It's not really an object so much as an object to contain objects, that would grow as more and more objects of sentimental value are added.

Really it's just kind of a mess of sentiment. Also a mass of sentiment.

Very bespoke - each enclosure is bespoke to the object, each object is personal to the one with sentimental attachment, and the growing messy mass of sentiment is extremely personal to the individual.

 2) Pen Pencil Crayon Brush Charcoal Other Things

This idea would be a ring fit with attachments (probably tappered? Maybe mildly barbed? material is important) that would each hold or could have inserted different drawing media. A ring might have 3+ additional attachments in which could be added different mark making materials, so that the a person could draw with a bunch of different matnerials at once, comfortably.

Maybe a glove? Or a tube instead of a ring for greater structural support? What's a functional maximum - how far can this be pushed?

Could I create something that would allow someone to draw with 100 different pens/pencils/brushes/ etc at once/

Is it really bespoke? Fit to the individual with choice of mark making tools I guess.

3) Bespoke Feedback Distortion Loop Abstract Room Light

This'll depend if I can get two video cameras hooked into a single projector.

It's a large tube (frosted material for better image retention?) in which is an open conical shape to receive and distort the projection on to the tube (maybe the tube isn't necessary but I like the additional distortion layer).

So there's a few layers of live image feedback distortion going on here to create a bespoke room light.

1) The first camera is facing up close to the display tube itself, capturing imagery from and feeding imagery to the display tube, creating a feedback loop.

2) The second camera would be facing outwards, away from the display tube, towards the room, anyone or anything who comes close, which adds a second feedback distortion layer to the projection.

3) If I can get two cameras feeding into a single projector, this can work; I don't know yet if that's possible, I might have to solder some wires or do some other hackery.

4) The combined videos - both live feeds - are fed into this open cone, which stretches and distots the video feed. I'd have to experiment with cone size, angle, and material - eg, frosted to catch more light? Clear?

5) The tube around the cone somewhat hides the workings of this while also adding another layer of distortion and giving it the appearnce of a more normal room light - I'd have to experiment with tube size, and material - eg, frosted to catch more light? Clear?

But what this two camera one projector cone-in-tube setup creates (with enough power) is a colored abstract room light, that creates ambient moving lights based on a self-feedback loop combined room or viewer feedback interaction.

Is THIS bespoke? I'm not sure! It's not personal to any individual, but the projector could also be potentially fed with personal photographs to start the distorted abstract feedback loop.

Another challenge is putting it together actually nicely - minimizing the cameras, creating a base for the projector, finidng a projector that's both small and quiet and powerful enough to stand-in as a room light.

This is starting to read like more of a weird commercial project idea (hell, integrate a speaker and genAI into the projector for another layer of bespoke user-interactive distortion) but I'm having fun developing it.
