Second half of the project!

Our group decided to experiment using a modifed 3d printer to create sgraffito pottery effects, experimenting with using Rhino3d and Grasshopper designed patterns carved into clay tiles.

After some adventures in getting into the computer then setting up a fresh install of Pronterface to the Prusa (praise device manager still being a thing that exists in contemporary Windows) we finally managed to get things going. And then - the next hurdle!

Turns out the gcode definition was automatically scaling the units to mm - and as we had this set to 3 inches, we managed to create - an extremely beautiful but very, very tiny pattern.

But after some (not inconsiderable) troubleshooting we figured that out and were on our way

g And honestly from here on most of the rest of it was physical calibration (the clip being loose, inserting the tool too deeply or too shallowly, dealing with unevern surfaces) and a matter of calibration

And we set up for some round tiles too -

Before we ran out of time. Definitely a very successful process!

The main issues were just not quite having the time to get perfectly flat tiles - which given the need for them to be leather-hard might be closer to impossible to begin with - and not having a studier mounting mechanism for experimentation with different tools.

Overall, huge success, significant room for further process development and exploration.
